About the Program

The National Disability and Community Volunteers Program gives caring Australians the opportunity to connect, grow, and make a lasting impact.

By volunteering, you help people living with disabilities develop independence, build friendships, and experience full participation in their communities.

You’ll also gain valuable personal and professional growth, learning skills in communication, teamwork, and empathy whi,le making a genuine contribution to inclusion and equality.

Whether you’re a student, retiree, job seeker, or simply someone who wants to help, our program welcomes you.

Why Volunteer With Us

Volunteering with our national program means becoming part of something bigger — a movement of people committed to inclusion, compassion, and empowerment.

You’ll enjoy:

  • Flexibility: Choose the hours and activities that suit your lifestyle.
  • Support: We provide training, ongoing mentoring, and recognition for your contribution.
  • Growth: Gain skills that strengthen your resume and open doors to future opportunities in the NDIS and community sectors.

Every volunteer plays a vital role in creating a stronger, more inclusive Australia.

Our Commitment to Safe and Inclusive Volunteering

At the heart of the National Disability & Community Volunteers Program is our commitment to safety, inclusivity, and continuous support. We believe that every volunteer deserves to feel confident, respected, and valued in their role.

Before you begin, you’ll take part in a comprehensive orientation and training program designed to prepare you for success. This includes:

  • Disability Awareness & Inclusion Training: Learn how to communicate effectively, provide person-centred support, and promote independence for people with disabilities.
  • Workplace Health & Safety Guidance: Understand your responsibilities and how to maintain safe environments for everyone.
  • NDIS Code of Conduct: Gain insight into the ethical standards that guide professional and volunteer behaviour within the disability sector.
  • Ongoing Mentoring: You’ll have access to supervisors and coordinators who provide advice, encouragement, and feedback as you grow in your role.

We also ensure that all volunteers operate within a framework of respect, privacy, and dignity. Everyone, from volunteers to participants and families, deserves to feel included and supported.

When you join our program, you’re not just signing up for a volunteer role — you’re joining a community of people who care, share, and empower one another.

Building Stronger Communities, Together

The National Disability & Community Volunteers Program doesn’t work alone — we thrive through collaboration. Our success is built on strong partnerships with local councils, schools, community organisations, and NDIS-registered providers across Australia.

Together, we create pathways for inclusion, empowerment, and social connection. Whether it’s hosting community events, supporting inclusive sports programs, or mentoring young people with disabilities, our partnerships ensure that every act of volunteering leaves a lasting footprint.

We believe that meaningful change happens when communities come together. That’s why we’re constantly expanding our network — connecting passionate volunteers with trusted organisations that share our mission.

If your organisation would like to get involved, we welcome collaborations in areas such as:

  • Community Projects & Events – Support local initiatives that promote inclusion and accessibility.
  • Education & Training Partnerships – Work with us to provide students with hands-on experience in the disability sector.
  • Corporate Volunteering Programs – Encourage your employees to give back through structured volunteer days or skill-sharing activities.
  • Joint Awareness Campaigns – Help spread the message of inclusion and disability awareness across Australia.

Every partnership strengthens our impact and brings us closer to a more connected and inclusive nation.
