Suburbs Where Our NDIS PEG/Tube Feeding Supports Are Available
Yes, if it is a support you require due to your disability. It is typically funded under the Core Supports - Assistance with Daily Life budget. The NDIS considers it a "reasonable and necessary" support for participants who cannot meet their nutritional needs through oral intake alone.
This is regulated by state guidelines. Generally:
A Registered or Enrolled Nurse is required for the initial insertion site care and to manage complex issues.
A trained and assessed Disability Support Worker can administer feeds and perform routine care once they have been deemed competent by a registered nurse. Beyond Health Services ensures all staff, regardless of role, are fully trained and operating within their scope of practice.
Our support workers complete comprehensive, hands-on training that covers infection control, formula preparation, safe bolus and pump feeding procedures, flushing protocols, and emergency response for issues like tube dislodgement or blockages. They are only signed off to work independently after being assessed as competent by our clinical lead.
Our staff are trained in immediate response protocols. For a blockage, they will attempt gentle flushing as per guidelines. If the tube falls out, it is a medical emergency. Our staff will ensure your safety, provide immediate stoma site care, and assist in contacting emergency services or your clinical team immediately, staying with you until help arrives
The feeding formula, pumps, and consumables (like syringes and giving sets) are funded separately from support worker hours. These are typically covered under the Consumables budget in your NDIS Core Supports. We can help you manage the ordering and storage of these supplies.
We follow strict clinical protocols, including:
Meticulous hand hygiene before and after the procedure.
Using aseptic techniques to handle the tube and formula.
Proper cleaning and care of the tube insertion site.
Regular and correct flushing of the tube before and after feeds/medications.
Yes. Our clinical team is experienced with various types of enteral feeding tubes, including PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy), PEJ (Percutaneous Endoscopic Jejunostomy), and Nasogastric (NG) tubes. We tailor our care specifically to the type of tube you have.
To ensure safe and seamless care, we require:
A copy of your NDIS plan.
A detailed feeding and medication schedule from your GP or dietitian.
Details about your specific type of tube.
This allows us to perform a clinical risk assessment and develop a personalised support plan for you.
