What is NDIS Speech Pathology?

NDIS Speech Pathology is an allied health service dedicated to assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication and swallowing disorders. Our Speech Pathologists (or Therapists) work with participants to develop crucial skills in speech clarity, language understanding and use, social interaction, voice, fluency, and safe eating and drinking. We focus on practical, goal-oriented therapy to help you communicate your needs, build relationships, participate in the community, and achieve greater independence.

  • Comprehensive Communication Assessment

A detailed evaluation of a participant's speech, language, voice, fluency, and social communication skills to identify strengths, challenges, and establish a baseline for therapy.

  • Swallowing & Feeding Assessment

Assessment of chewing and swallowing function to ensure safe eating and drinking, reduce the risk of choking or aspiration pneumonia, and address any aversions or feeding difficulties.

  • Speech Therapy

Individualised therapy to improve the clarity of speech sounds, helping participants to be more easily understood by others.

  • Receptive & Expressive Language Therapy

Therapy to improve the understanding of spoken language (receptive) and the ability to express ideas, thoughts, and needs using words, sentences, and grammar (expressive).

  • Social Skills & Pragmatic Language Therapy

Support to develop the unwritten rules of social interaction, including turn-taking, understanding non-verbal cues, topic maintenance, and building friendships.

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication

Assessment for and implementation of communication tools and systems, from picture boards to high-tech speech-generating devices, for non-speaking or minimally verbal individuals.

  • Voice Therapy

Therapy to improve vocal quality, pitch, and volume, and to address issues like hoarseness or vocal strain for clearer and more sustainable voice use.

  • Fluency Therapy

Evidence-based techniques and strategies to support individuals who stutter to speak more fluently and communicate with greater confidence

  • Literacy & Phonological Awareness Intervention

Therapy to build foundational reading and spelling skills, including sound-letter recognition, blending, and segmenting, which are critical for academic success.

  • In-Home & Community-Based Speech Therapy

Therapy sessions conducted in the participant's natural environment (home, school, daycare) to ensure skills are functional, generalised, and directly applicable to daily life.
