Is continence care covered by the NDIS?

Yes, if it's a direct result of your disability. Continence care is typically funded under the Core Supports - Assistance with Daily Life budget in your NDIS plan. It's considered a "reasonable and necessary" support to help you maintain personal hygiene, health, and dignity.

What's included in NDIS continence care?

Our continence care includes:

Assistance with toileting (using toilet, commode, or urinal)

Changing continence pads or pants

Personal hygiene care after episodes of incontinence

Bed bathing and skin care

Assistance with catheter and stoma care

Implementing and following a continence management plan

Are continence aids like pads funded by the NDIS?

Yes, continence aids are typically funded separately from support worker hours. These products (pads, pants, catheters, etc.) fall under the Consumables budget in your Core Supports. We can help you identify what products are available and how to manage them.

How do you protect my dignity during such personal care?

Protecting your dignity is our highest priority. We achieve this through:

What training do your continence care support workers have?

Our support workers complete specialised training in:

Can you help develop a continence management plan?

Yes. While a formal diagnosis and plan should come from a continence nurse or GP, our experienced staff can work with you to implement the plan, monitor its effectiveness, and provide valuable feedback to your healthcare team about what's working in your daily life.


What if I need help during the night?

We offer flexible support arrangements that can include evening and overnight care for assistance with toileting and pad changes. This can be discussed during your assessment and would be detailed in your service agreement based on your NDIS plan funding.
