NDIS Funding Guide · 2026–27
Assistive technology (AT) includes equipment or technology that helps a person do something they otherwise cannot do safely or independently because of disability. The device itself is different from therapy assessment or AT mentoring.
Checked 20 October 2026. Based on separately published official NDIA documents, not prices inferred from the main 96-page schedule.
Start with the item and its intended functional purpose. The 2026–27 Pricing Schedule lists AT mentoring and some customised technology professional work, but does not provide a universal fixed price for every wheelchair, communication device, orthosis or home aid.
What is assistive technology in NDIS funding?
AT can range from simple disability-related aids to complex mobility devices and customised communication technology. NDIS support eligibility depends on the participant's functional need, available funding, risk, suitability, and whether the purchase is an NDIS support rather than an ordinary household item.
Unlike a therapy appointment, equipment procurement may be quote-based or require assessment. Do not assign an hourly OT rate to the device itself.
Which actual 2026–27 codes are in the September schedule?
AT mentoring: 15_300_0103_1_3, national $110.44/hour, remote $154.62/hour, very remote $165.66/hour (Appendix 1, Table 5). The mentor needs the schedule's Certificate IV in AT Mentoring or equivalent training.
Selection or manufacture of individualised technology: 15_047_0135_1_3, national $193.99/hour for direct professional support, remote $271.59/hour, very remote $290.99/hour (Appendix 4, Table 35); the separate _PT travel-time item is nationally $97.00/hour, subject to travel eligibility. These services typically involve orthotists, prosthetists or pedorthists.
How do low-cost and high-cost equipment requests differ?
Different AT requests may involve different funding and evidence requirements. A qualified professional may need to assess the device, the participant's environment, safety and fit. Where a purchase needs a quote, obtain the correct product information, expected functional outcome, ongoing maintenance requirements and compatible plan funding before ordering. Confirm the current item and quote flags in the 2026–27 Support Catalogue.
Does AT include repair, servicing and rental?
Assistive technology purchasing is not the same as maintenance, repair or rental. The current NDIS plan and Support Catalogue may distinguish these purposes. Explain whether a charge is a new device, replacement component, maintenance, repair labour, rental period or clinical fitting time; avoid charging the same service twice.
Why not publish an invented list of device prices?
As at October 2026, the NDIA pricing website continues to link the 2025–26 assistive technology, home modifications and consumables code guide while the applicable support catalogue is for 2026–27. That prior-year code guide is valuable background, but not proof that every listed code or limit remains unchanged. This article therefore avoids claiming a generic 2026–27 maximum price for every equipment product without a current primary source.
Common questions
Can a support worker prescribe a complex wheelchair?
Complex AT generally needs appropriate professional assessment, not simply a worker's suggestion.
Does the AT mentoring rate include buying the device?
No. It prices a qualified mentoring service; the equipment procurement is a separate support question.
