The short answer

The NDIS Pricing Schedule sets maximum payable amounts for specific supports. Each listed item has a code, description, billing unit and maximum for national, remote and very remote locations. The correct code depends on what actually happened—not simply what the provider usually charges. Funding must be appropriate to the participant's plan and the applicable claiming rules.

What does the 2026–27 NDIS Pricing Schedule cover?

The attached schedule contains 57 pricing tables arranged in seven appendices: disability support workers; accommodation and capital costs; nursing and other labour supports; therapy and professional supports; early childhood supports; support coordination; and plan management. The guide on this site breaks these down into individual explanations with their relevant item numbers.

The schedule applies to NDIA-managed and plan-managed supports. The listed maximum amounts include any GST, and the amount is tied to a unit such as an hour, day, month or individual instance. A $193.99 hourly limit is not permission to charge $193.99 for a 30-minute service. Time-based claims must reflect actual time provided and other applicable conditions.

Price limits are not automatically the amount every provider must charge. Discuss the proposed rate and all additional charges in advance. A support appearing in the schedule does not, by itself, make it appropriate for a particular participant to buy with their plan funding.

How do NDIS support item codes work?

An item code identifies a particular support and its billing purpose. Compare both the full code and the official item description: two services can share a price but fall within different supports or budgets. Do not substitute a code from a different service simply because the price matches.

Example What it identifies
15_617_0128_1_3 Occupational therapy direct service in the listed support category.
15_617_0128_1_3_PT The same professional support's separate provider travel time line item.
15_617_0128_1_3_NF Its non-face-to-face service line item, subject to applicable claiming rules.
15_617_0128_1_3_TH Its telehealth line item.
15_617_0128_1_3_RR Its NDIA-requested reports line item.
15_617_0128_1_3_CA Its cancellation line item, where a charge is permitted.

Those suffixes appear in the therapy appendices of this schedule. They are not permission to bill every type of activity automatically. A cancelled appointment, a clinician's travel, indirect work, a telehealth session and a requested report are different events that must satisfy the applicable service agreement and claiming requirements.

When are daytime, evening and night prices used?

The 2026–27 definitions distinguish nursing from non-nursing supports. For standard disability support worker services, weekday daytime generally means the support starts at or after 6 am and ends by 8 pm. A weekday evening support starts at or after 8 pm and ends by midnight. A weekday night support can include an eligible shift crossing midnight or one starting before 6 am. Nursing has different definitions: weekday daytime is 6 am to 6 pm, and evening support may start from noon if it finishes after 6 pm.

For a single worker's support crossing time or day boundaries, Part 1 section 2.4(c) states that the higher applicable amount applies to the whole support. This is a specific rule; do not assume every shift must be divided minute-by-minute across rates. Sleepovers also have their own conditions, including a continuous period of at least eight hours and permission for the worker to sleep when not providing care.

See the dedicated day, evening, night, sleepover and public holiday articles for examples and exceptions.

Can providers add travel, kilometres, parking and tolls?

The 2026–27 schedule explicitly lists provider travel time items for many professional therapies. For example, occupational therapy provider travel time has its own national maximum of $97.00 per hour, separate from the direct service limit of $193.99 per hour. The service agreement should set out whether eligible travel will be charged and how it will be calculated.

Important distinction: time spent travelling by a provider is different from the vehicle's non-labour running costs, tolls or parking, and different again from transporting a participant during their support. These are not interchangeable charges.

Check before claiming: the supplied September 2026 Pricing Schedule does not itself list every non-labour travel item or all travel time and cancellation conditions. The NDIA says updated 2026–27 claiming guidance will be published separately. Accordingly, do not treat a former kilometre allowance or a past year's non-labour code as a confirmed new entitlement without checking the latest support catalogue and applicable guidance.

What changes in remote and very remote areas?

Most listed supports have three prices: national, remote and very remote. The service location—not simply where the participant ordinarily lives—determines the category. National rates apply to Modified Monash Model MM 1–5 locations unless specifically reclassified; remote rates apply to MM 6, and very remote rates to MM 7. Part 3 of the schedule also specifically reclassifies certain isolated towns, so a postcode alone may not always be enough to choose the correct rate.

If a row has no remote or very remote amount, do not add a geographic loading. Plan management, for example, is $104.45 per month in all three columns.

What should you check on an NDIS invoice?

  1. The actual support: does the description match what the participant received?
  2. The code and unit: is it the correct item number, hour/day/month or each?
  3. The date and clock times: were the appropriate weekday, night, weekend or public holiday definitions applied?
  4. The location: is the service location national, remote or very remote under the schedule?
  5. The extras: is provider travel, transport, accommodation or cancellation listed separately where required, agreed and supported by current rules?
  6. The professional: did the worker have the qualifications, registration and competence required for that priced support?
  7. The price: is the rate no higher than the applicable limit, and is the time actually provided recorded accurately?

If anything is unclear, ask the provider for the service record, applicable claiming basis and an itemised explanation before approving payment. A plan manager can assist in checking whether the invoice aligns with the support and funding category.

Common questions

Does the published hourly limit mean every provider must charge it?

No. It is the maximum for the applicable item and location, not a mandatory set price. Participants and providers can discuss a rate below it.

Can a support worker charge a night rate for an appointment at 8:30 pm?

Not merely because it occurs after 8 pm. Under the schedule's non-nursing definitions, 8:30 pm on an ordinary weekday generally falls within weekday evening, unless the specific shift meets a separate night or other exception.

Does the NDIS Pricing Schedule cover all assistive technology and SDA prices?

No. Specialist Disability Accommodation has a separate 2026–27 pricing schedule. The support catalogue and other current guidance also need to be checked for supports not itemised in this document.

Are the 2026–27 prices fixed until June 2027?

No. They are effective from 24 September 2026, but the NDIA and government may issue a revised schedule during the financial year. Always check the effective date on the current official document.
