NDIS Funding Guide • 2026–27 support and claiming guidance

Where a group of participants receives the same support at the same time, the 2026–27 schedule says the claim per person is calculated by dividing the applicable group amount by the number of people in the group. The full worker rate is not automatically payable by every person.

The short answer

Where a group of participants receives the same support at the same time, the 2026–27 schedule says the claim per person is calculated by dividing the applicable group amount by the number of people in the group. The full worker rate is not automatically payable by every person.

What is the group's maximum price per participant?

Part 1 section 2.5 describes group-based supports as services delivered to more than one person simultaneously. Its calculation is explicit: take the applicable maximum amount in the relevant schedule and divide by the number of people in the group.

For example, Table 1 includes the standard weekday daytime group activities item 04_102_0136_6_1 at $73.58 per hour nationally. If one worker supports a group of two participants for one hour under the relevant pricing rule, the simple shared amount would be $36.79 maximum from each participant. For three participants the arithmetic division is $24.526… each, subject to the appropriate cent rounding and actual claim allocation.

Table: simple group allocation examples

Support item maximum Group size Simple amount per person Total for group
$73.58/hr weekday standard group activity 1 $73.58 $73.58
$73.58/hr weekday standard group activity 2 $36.79 $73.58
$73.58/hr weekday standard group activity 4 $18.395 (rounding rules apply) $73.58

This is a teaching example for a single shared worker cost. If multiple staff are legitimately providing support or the group requires higher-intensity care, analyse the support arrangement, actual staffing and the applicable rules rather than blindly using this simplified example.

Does every group cost the same?

No. Rates vary by item, support purpose, time, intensity and geography. High-intensity group activity weekday daytime 04_600_0104_6_1 is $79.60/hour nationally, subject to the high-intensity definition. Regular community access for an individual is not a group merely because several people happen to attend the same venue.

What about centre capital costs?

The schedule allows specified centre capital cost items when the primary support occurs in a centre and the provider is operating the facility. The standard national limit is $2.71/hour for relevant centre capital items including 04_599_0136_6_1. It is a separate eligible facility cost, not a way to restore a full one-on-one worker rate on top of the group calculation or charge an arbitrary facility surcharge.

What should a group invoice show?

The provider should be able to explain the number of people supported, staffing arrangement, participant-to-worker ratio, support delivered, start/end time, support code, location and whether the group or centre was suitable for the participant's goals. Careful allocation prevents the same worker hour being multiplied into an excessive charge across several plans.

Common questions

Can I charge this just because a code appears in the schedule?

No. The support must meet the participant's disability-related need, applicable funding rules and the permitted claim type. The schedule tells you the price limits, not whether this individual participant can claim every listed item.

Are 2026–27 prices fixed for the whole year?

The schedule is effective 24 September 2026 but may be amended. Check the latest official version and the new claiming documents as they are published.
