The short answer

Use house cleaning for disability-related household tasks such as mopping, bathroom cleaning or vacuuming; yard maintenance for appropriate outdoor upkeep; and personal domestic assistance for relevant assistance with home tasks. Match specialised child and engagement items to their own support purpose.

What does this support actually cover?

These 'other labour' items include assistance with personal domestic activities, specialised home-based assistance for a child, house or yard maintenance, house cleaning and other household activities, and community engagement assistance. Each has its own item code and limit.

Start with the activity or professional service the participant received, not the funding amount remaining in the plan. For each invoice, identify the specific aim of the support, where it took place, what the worker actually did and the appropriate item family. The schedule sets the maximum prices; it does not give blanket approval for every participant to purchase every listed service.

When can this item be used—and when can't it?

Situations it is intended for

Use house cleaning for disability-related household tasks such as mopping, bathroom cleaning or vacuuming; yard maintenance for appropriate outdoor upkeep; and personal domestic assistance for relevant assistance with home tasks. Match specialised child and engagement items to their own support purpose.

Situations that require a different approach

Do not use an unpriced personal care code to charge cleaning at a higher rate. NDIS funding does not automatically pay for every general household service or major gardening improvement. Check the disability connection, current plan and whether the task is an ordinary living cost.

Important: a support can have a published price and still be inappropriate to charge to a participant's plan. Check the approved funding, the participant's disability-related need, their service agreement and the currently applicable claiming rules.

Who is allowed to deliver this support?

These items do not impose a named nursing or allied-health qualification in the schedule. Workers must nonetheless be competent, safe, appropriately screened where required and legally permitted to perform the work.

Worker qualifications, NDIS provider registration and permission to claim a particular item are related but different questions. Where a professional registration or a defined higher-intensity standard applies, verify the actual person delivering the work meets it. Employer classifications used to build a price limit do not replace professional practice rules.

Cleaning and gardening are separate services: use our dedicated cleaning guide for household cleaning (code 01_020_0120_1_1) and our gardening guide for yard maintenance (code 01_019_0120_1_1). The purpose, tasks and price differ; do not combine them into one invoice line.

All 5 support codes and 2026–27 maximum prices

The tables below reproduce the codes, billing units and national, remote and very remote maximum amounts for this pricing-table group from the supplied official schedule. Individual support item names distinguish service setting, worker level, activity and/or time of delivery. On narrow screens, each pricing row is displayed as a labelled card.

Travel, time-of-day, cancellation and extra costs

Travel time, vehicle running costs, parking and tolls are separate concepts. Not every item has a matching separate provider-travel code in this schedule. A provider should discuss potentially claimable travel in advance and check the current support catalogue, claim type and relevant NDIA guidance before invoicing it. The September 2026 schedule does not itself specify all non-labour travel codes and conditions.

Cancellation charges are not automatic. Check the service agreement and the currently applicable cancellation rules before claiming a cancelled session. Similarly, an extra charge cannot be inferred merely from a blank or differently worded line elsewhere in the schedule.

National rates generally apply in MM 1–5 locations; remote in MM 6; very remote in MM 7, taking account of the isolated-town modifications listed in Part 3. The service's physical location determines the applicable column. Some items may have no geographic loading.

A real-world example

A participant's disability prevents safe bathroom cleaning and vacuuming, and an agreed cleaner performs those tasks for two hours. Use the household cleaning code, not a support worker self-care code.

Price calculation example: the national maximum for Assistance with Personal Domestic Activities is $61.16 per hour. For a genuinely delivered 90-minute service, the pro-rata mathematical maximum is $91.74 before any other claim limits or separate eligible charges are considered. That is an illustration of the unit calculation, not a recommendation to book or claim a particular duration.

What documentation should be available?

Detail the tasks, disability-related need, who performed them, visit duration, agreed rate and whether supplies or travel are separately allowable.

Common questions

Does the highest listed price have to be charged?

No. The column shows a maximum payable for plan-managed and NDIA-managed supports, not a fixed fee. A lower rate can be agreed, and a participant's plan still needs to permit the support.

Can a different item with the same price be used instead?

No. Matching prices do not mean matching eligibility. The code must accurately identify what was delivered, the funding context, and any day, setting, profession or complexity requirements.

When should I ask for more evidence?

Ask whenever the claim includes a special qualification, higher intensity, non-standard time, remote loading, overnight support or an additional charge. An itemised invoice and clear service record make it easier to understand the basis of the charge.

2026–27 claiming flags for the 5 listed codes

Checked against the official NDIS Support Catalogue. These are item-specific flags, not authorisations to claim.

How to use this table: Yes means this code has a catalogue claim-type flag; No means it is not marked for that generic claim type; N/A means not applicable. A separately listed _PT (provider travel), _NF (non-face-to-face), _CA (cancellation), _RR (report) or _TH (telehealth) item is not cancelled by a No against a different item. Check the applicable rules, participant agreement, notice periods, travel limits and actual service before billing.
